#MadeInErmelo and Ready to Shine!
The countdown is officially on! In just a few days, Ermelo will witness something truly special, the District Big Screen Launch of the spiritual drama series The Chosen Soul | Umphefumulo Okhethiwe at the 1948 Hall in Wesselton, Ermelo on Saturday, 11 October 2025, from 10am to 3pm.
This one-of-a-kind celebration is FREE to attend, but booking is essential, because trust us, these seats will disappear faster than a miracle in a storm!
Local Talent, Local Support
The much-anticipated event is proudly brought to you by Msukaligwa Arts and Culture Forum and supported by the Local Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, which has assisted with securing the venue and rallying creative leaders across the Gert Sibande District to make this day a community celebration.
The Spiritual Drama series, written and produced by Khanyisa Media’s Austin Menzi Moyo Snr, is more than just entertainment; it’s an empowerment project. Every actor in the cast comes from KwaMabuza Farm, now also known as Ermelo Ext 50, a humble community in Ermelo where raw talent met opportunity. What began as a local youth empowerment initiative has blossomed into a full-fledged 20-episode spiritual series that has won a few hearts online (YouTube).
To mark this milestone, audiences will experience the first six episodes seamlessly edited into a 90-minute movie, a gripping spiritual story filled with mystery, emotion, and redemption.
Packed with Action, Inspiration, and Entertainment
This is not just a movie screening, it’s an Ermelo cultural explosion! Expect live performances by Thee-Echoes Music Group (they perform all the accapella songs in the Series and they are now available on all streaming platforms like Spotify, iTunes, Youtube etc) and other local artists, plus inspiring appearances by local leaders, cultural officials, and business people.
There’s also a special Talent Show segment, giving new singers, dancers, and performers a golden chance to shine before the crowd. If you believe you’ve got it, this is your moment!
Local film producers and creatives will also take the stage to showcase their ongoing projects and share how local storytelling is transforming the creative scene in Mpumalanga.
And of course, no cinema experience is complete without popcorn, snacks, and drinks (no alcohol allowed through the gate!) all on sale inside and around the hall.
Meanwhile, outside, visitors can browse flea-market-style stalls, turning the venue into a vibrant community hub.
To make things even more fun, there will be prizes to be won (just remember to have data on your phone, you’ll need it to participate!).
A Celebration of Community and Creativity
Umphefumulo Okhethiwe is a testament to what happens when a community believes in its youth. With guidance, collaboration, and a little faith, KwaMabuza Farm’s rising stars have proven that greatness can be #MadeInErmelo and shared with the world.

Massive congrats to this talented cast! Your hard work is about to light up our screens.
